So I'm in New York for a couple of weeks before I set off to college. I love it. Its really, really crowded. And its noisy. I'm staying a block from Columbus circle, so, NOISE as in sirens and cars and people howling under us all day and all night. How sweet.
Its still a gorgeous city! I've practically slaughtered my camera taking pictures. I've been here like 10 times before but i never got out much. I souldve.
I cant wait for college

So I got my new Asus G1S notebook just before i left Taiwan. And it was sick as hell and it had the best specs and all and it was great. until, guess what? I found out it only came with Vistas.
So? NOTHING WOULD INSTALL. nothing. Because it was a ripoff and it wouldnt take any software but the newest versions. Which is fine by me, except I couldnt even install my Intuos driver and things like PS2 and Office (it would only take PS3, Office 07, etc. and even Maya 8 wouldnt install).
So it pissed me off, and I went and tried to get XP installed. Then guess what they told me? I had to pay extra and upgrade to Vistas Business before I could install XP. However my hardware was incompatible with any current version of XP therefore I couldnt install XP anyway and they told me I would have to wait a few months before a compatible edition could be installed.
Now any dork with a brain wouldnt beleive this, so i decided they could go suck it and i proceeded to install XP myself. Then? everything seemed to be working fine, until the final step, and it told me my hard drives couldnt be detected and died on me.
So I ended up having to leave my brand new beautiful gaming laptop in Taiwan while it awaits those software goons to de-screwup my operating system, and I am here not knowing when I will see it again, missing it very much.
I'm so sick of it. its a ripoff. Lesson learned? DON'T get a computer with Vistas, guys.
I've been ever-dubious of Vista ever since it came out; your case just proves my doubts. I'll be stickin' with XP.
Sucks that your laptop got screwed over, though.. I hate software issues. ><

Yeah, everyone in Taiwan wants to downgrade and you can't really buy a new computer with XP installed. That is why i bought a laptop that was Vista ready I dont' really think they sell those anymore. Hopefully more things will be developed for Vista soon.
....irene...!!!! VISTA WORKS FINE WITH EVERYTHING!!! just get vista ultimate...o my god...you should at least bothered to consult me (knowing that i have one with vista installed and have been using it just fine...) sighhhhhhhhhh..............
Probably because the HDD is SATA, and XP doesn't have the drivers for SATA HDD's built in.
There is a possability, as I bet it doesn't have a floppy drive, to streamline the appropriate drivers into the XP install, and that might just solve the problem.
Unless you have a USB floppy drive, then you need to stick the drivers for the SATA controller onto that, for XP that is, and hit F6 during the install

Everyone is a bastard I'm always joking, except on my blog.
my friend has told to be careful of vista, as its still new etc and not alot stuff is able to be installed upon it and to at least wait about an year or so.
Yeah I know this already. I had suspected it before my mother got a laptop with it. Vista really REALLY bites @ss. I couldn't stand it from the first time I laid eyes on its made-to-mimic-mac layout. (like microsoft could ever compare to mac as far as anything graphical goes, even layout *snorts* please) Plus the extreme form of "security" measures it employs ensure that no programs except very select few will work on it. God I hate it! I am so sorry. I would have to suggest getting a mac to you. Especially since you are an artist and all great artists deserve a mac. I wish I had real talent... *sighs*
